Tree Assessment / Quotation for Works

When you contact Dan Fordham Tree Care we will arrange to visit the site in order to provide you with a free, no obligation quotation for any works required. During this visit we will assess the condition and health of the tree so that we can advise as to the best way to move forward whilst limiting risk and ensuring the continued health of the tree where possible.

Tree Preservation Order (TPO) & Conservation Areas

If the works required are covered by a TPO or located within a conservation area we will submit any necessary applications to the local authority on your behalf. Permission must be granted before works can commence and this can take around seven weeks from the point at which an application is submitted.

Tree Removal

In some cases it may be necessary to completely remove a tree, i.e. if the tree is dead, diseased or dangerous/unsafe. This can be achieved by directional felling if safe enough and there is enough space to do so. Alternatively we can carry out a controlled ‘sectional fell’ where the tree is dismantled in sections from the top down.

Crown Thinning

Crown thinning involves the pruning/removal of secondary and smaller branches throughout the crown of the tree. This will increase light levels into your garden/property and reduce wind resistance, leaving a balanced branch structure whilst retaining its original crown size and shape.

Crown Reduction

A Crown Reduction involves reducing the overall crown/canopy by a certain percentage - of the height and spread of the tree. We do this by reducing the tree from the tips of the branches back to suitable secondary branches and growth points.

Crown Lifting

Crown lifting is the removal of lower branches, either to improve a view, avoid fences/obstructions or just purely for aesthetic reasons - to improve the look/balance of the tree.  This is done by way of either removing whole branches or secondary branches that extend below the required height.

Crown Health/Deadwood Management

Dead wooding is the removal of dead, broken, split branches and old stubs. This usually would be recommended for safety reasons but also benefits the overall health of the tree. Leaving the tree with an overall balanced branch structure whilst retaining its shape.

Formative Pruning

Formative Pruning is minor pruning and shaping during the early years of a trees growth to establish good form and shape and to correct possible defects or weaknesses that may affect the trees health and structure later in life.

Hedge reductions and maintenance

Whatever the size, shape or species of your hedge - there will be some maintenance needed from time to time - this can cover reductions, removals and maintaining the shape with trimming/pruning methods.

Stump grinding

When a tree has been removed, you are left with the stump, the stump can be treated to prevent any re-growth - or simply left to rot away. We are able to grind down unwanted stumps mechanically, below ground level - to make way for re-planting/fresh lawn area or simply to remove a trip hazard in your garden.

Garden clearance

Quite simply - a removal of all trees/shrubs located in your garden and make way for a fresh start. As with all of the jobs we undertake, all waste removed from site and correctly re-cycled or disposed of.
